One of my favorite places to paint in Zion is from the summit of Angel's Landing.  I've made a practice of hiking the trail and painting on almost every one of my many visits to Zion.  Not only is it an exhilarating hike, but it's also the site of eyries for peregrine falcons and California condors which I have seen on a good number of my hikes to Angel's Landing.  In November 2025, I painted a couple plein air studies from this vantage point.  Before sunset the crowds dissipated and I was virtually alone in solitude.  In 2026 back in the studio I used plein air studies in creating this studio piece which conveys those thrilling experiences.

This painting was created for the 2026 Zion Art Invitational.  Sales support Zion Forever Project to help fund Zion National Park.
