While hiking up the Fletcher Creek Trail in the Yosemite wilderness, I noticed a pair of Mountain Bluebirds taking turns delivering food to a single young nestling in the chaparral nearby. This is the male with a beetle in its beak. Each bird flew in with food to within about 50 feet of the nest site and perched on a limb, surveyed the area and then flew to the nestling, and then flew off in pursuit of another morsel.
