I'm using this piece as a reference for a larger studio painting to convey the moody and mysterious qualities of Hetch Hetchy during stormy weather. It was painted as a demonstration during a plein air workshop last spring. (please see workshops page). One of the reasons I love working in oils is for the versatility. Despite the rainfall during this painting, I continued working because the water does not affect oil paint as it would if I worked in any water based media.
